Supporting Student Success

The Foundation Scholarship fund was established to provide funds to students of the PXU who are pursuing a post-secondary education.

PXU Graduating Students

This year's applications are closed. Notifications will begin in April.


Applications will open in September 2026 for seniors graduating fall December of 2026 or spring of 2027 from a PXU school who will attend a post-secondary school (university, community college, or accredited trade school) in the Fall of 2027 and Spring of 2028 are eligible to apply for these scholarships. 

If you are selected for a scholarship you will be notified at the end of March and the award will be released to the scholarship office of your school.

Important Notes:

  • You must be graduating from a PXU district high school.
  • You must follow all instructions in the application to keep it a blind application.
  • Awardees are required to attend the scholarship reception.
  • Funds are sent directly to your school, not released from us directly to the student.

PXU ALUMNI: Alumni Award Scholarships are available to students who were awarded a one-time scholarship award from the Phoenix Union Foundation for Education. These awards will vary in amount based on the students who apply and the funds available each year. This award application is by invitation only.

Renewal Criteria

Scholarship renewals are available to students who were awarded a Foundation Scholarship for more than one year. The renewal each year is conditional pending verification that student has maintained all criteria and are contingent on review of final semester grades. Below are the required pieces of the renewal process.

  • Renewal Application

    Renewal Application (via Arizona Community Foundation)


    • Transcripts – 2.5 GPA required
    • School information – Must be an Arizona university, community college or accredited vocational/trade school
    • School Information

    ACF will not reach out to you. You must login to your ACF account in the spring of each year and make sure these updates are made. The renewal typically closes in May, but please check in ahead of time to find the renewal date for each year. 


  • Meeting with the Scholarship Committee

    The 2026 meetings have passed. 


    The 2027 meeting dates will be in January 2027. Please check back for updates this fall.


     A meeting with the scholarship committee will be scheduled mid-year. This gives us the opportunity to stay in touch with you and see if you need any assistance meeting the renewal requirements. You will be contacted regarding this meeting in late fall or early winter. Please make sure you have updated any necessary contact information in your Arizona Community Foundation account so we are able to reach you.

  • Communication Piece

    Communication piece is as follows:


    Can be a video (can be taken with your phone) providing a testimonial of the impact of your scholarship, a service project, or leadership involvement that has been meaningful to you and why.


    OR


    a written testimonial based on the guidelines and prompt to be released fall 2026.


    Communication pieces will be published.


    Spring 2026 Prompt: Please explain how and why you selected your college major when you were entering college. Are you double-majoring? Getting a minor? If you changed your major, include this too. And what recommendation do you have for other PXU students on selecting their major? Include a photo of yourself in front of an important place to you on campus, doing community service, or engaging in an on-campus activity. You must be visible in the photo.



  • Community Service Hours

    COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS (13 TOTAL) 


    Seven (7) hours of service at your college, university, and/or accredited vocational school community. Can be part of a service with a student organization on campus (ie. Changemaker Central (ASU), Volunteer Services (UA), and American Medical Student Association (AMSA to name a few.)


    Six (6) hours of service with an organization of choice (ie. St. Vincent de Paul, Be a Leader, Aliento). This can also be completed with a college/university/accredited vocational or trade school organization should the scholar choose.


    ***Community service hours cannot include activities like student teaching. Hours must be separate from what you are earning school credit and/or getting paid for as part of work.***
